| Location: Bountiful,Ut,United States Member Since: Jan 19, 2012 Gender: Female Goal Type: 5 K Finish Running Accomplishments: I started Runner's World beginning runners program (run 30 min. without stopping in 8 weeks) on Oct. 24, 2011. I was able to run a 5K without stopping 4 1/2 weeks later in 39 min. Soooo slow--but I did it! I've only missed 1 day of running (the day of the BIG WIND) since. Short-Term Running Goals: I want to run several 5Ks. I want to be able to run 3 miles in 30 min. I would really like to be able to run a 10K. I want to keep running every day! Long-Term Running Goals: I want to keep in shape so I can always keep up with my kids on the hike up to Cleo's Bath on Sonora Pass. Personal: I'm married with 7 incredible children. | Gorgeous morning! First 3 mi. in 35 min., ncluding walking the uphill from house & uphill on 400 N. Went to 500 S. & back--1st time. It's 3.34 mi., not the 3 mi. I previously thought. | Not a great week for intensity, butI kept the goals for mileage and amount of time per day, so that's still good. This next week I need to bump up the intensity so I'm well prepared for the next 5K at Thanksgiving Point. I figure I need to bump up the mileage so I can get 3 mi. in at a relatively level course. | I stopped paying attention to running today for 1/2 mi.--while watching TV & running--all of a sudden I realized that I hadn't even been thinking about what I was doing--how fast or slow, how long it was taking, how I was feeling--my body was on autorun. It was a great feeling! That makes me think that maybe that is how it happens over time--your body just automatically goes in a totally natural manner. | slooooooowest.day. ever. I couldn't seem to run more than 100 yds without walking. I don't know what my problem was--except that the route from MACU-home is all uphill (seriously) and that Red Iguana meal from last night made me feel like I was carrying a 50 lb. backpack. Oh well. So happy to have done it, though! I'm doing really well on mileage this week. Next few days will include hikes to Delicate Arch, Landscape Arch and Devil's Garden Campground. | Add Comment |
